Versailles Cuff was inspired by the idealistic and elaborate movie "Marie Antoinette" produced by Sofia Coppola and staring Kirsten Dunst. The production and ornate stage sets that Sofia Coppola created for her pop culture film has the baroque stamp of style.
The word baroque is derived from the baroque (Portuguese) meaning imperfect pearl. In a nutshell, Baroque design is marked by curved and complex forms, bold ornamentation, many details and irregular shapes. The romantic and refined interior of the Palace of Versailles just outside of Paris France are inspiring for design. Marie Antoinette lived there for part of her life and the style of that palace is exquisite.
Versailles Cuff is constructed of decorative panels woven in peyote stitch with a decrease on the edge for a scalloped ridge. A faceted square stone is bezeled and attached to the peyote panels leaving open-space for visual interest. Tiny pearls are stitched between each stone and a scrollwork pattern runs along the length of the bracelet. The clasp is a decorative panel with a button and lasso closure for security over a clever Pin and Hinge clasp of Melanie's design. These two ensure a very secure closure that acts as a focal point as well as a conversation piece! The pin is held to the bracelet by a fine chain.
Versailles Cuff is a very practical bracelet to wear and it is a whole lot of fun to bead! You will love to take it around and show it off to all your beady friends!
